I wonder if tocatour asked Vauxhall to say something after reading through all the talk and guessing on this forum!

Apparently the Vectra they are evaluating is BTC spec, not ETCC regs. Thommo and Muller expected to stay for 2004.

Interesting- they obviously think that going the BTCC rather than ETCC regs route will give them a performance advantage then....

Or that it is just cheaper for them to take all the running gear/control parts out of the Astra and install it straightaway into the Vectra.....

Hmmm.. interesting won't a developed etcc spec car such as the bmw be better than a ballasted and new btcc spec car? i thought they would have been going the etcc route with the vectra to avoid this.

If we want manufacturers like BMW or Alfa on board, then ETCC-spec cars is the only way it'll happen- it's unlikely they'd spend the time and money on developing cars to run under a one-off set of regulations for the BTCC- if they can run basically the same car they run in Europe in the UK as well, then they might come on board
