News of PDM's Death Premature?

As noted in the "33 Cars" thread, Robin Miller reported on Monday (on "Windtunnel") and a story in the Indy Star reported yesterday (May 5) that PDM has ceased operations and their assets are for sale....

However, yesterday evening, Dave Furst, the Sports Director for WRTV-6 (the ABC affiliate in Indianapolis) reported on the air that Paul Diatlovitch had told him that he HAS NOT withdrawn his Indy 500 entry, and that he is still seeking sponsors to run....

Maybe the "P" of PDM Racing couls also stand for "Phoenix" as well as Paul's first name.....

He has struggled with budgets for years, but has always managed to make something happen in the past....

The Plot Thickens.....

I'll keep you posted as I hear more on this....

But to Paraphrase a line written by Mark Twain, "Reports of my Death are Premature," those words just might be attributed to Paul Diatlovitch at this time as well...

Maybe "Team Owner" can share some insight with us....unless, of course, "Team Owner" IS Paul Diatlovitch...

(Notice how I slipped that one in there, just to see if I could find out who "Team Owner" is....)

I wish him the very best in his search...if this report is true....

He has been a long-time player at Indy as a mechanic and now as a team owner....

I hope he can swing a deal to go racing....

In my eyes, he epitomizes what the IRL has been all about....

We're Pulling for you, Paul!!!!!!!

Team Owner should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm not Paul but I have drank beer with him before, but of course everyone else in IndyCar Racing can say the same thing. Paul still has the car under a cover in his shop but is really negotiating to run an IPS car for the Freedom 100 and the rest of the year.

It would be fantastic if his team survives, but they seem to have been gradually sinking further in recent years, with fewer drivers, shorter deals and less performance.

Read this today;

Quote:
Reports that PDM Racing were closing their doors and selling their equipment generated interest in the team. The team is currently negotiating a deal that may see PDM return to the track next week. "We'll know in the next couple days," said team co-owner Larry Arnold.
