this should be in the Trackside forum however here are some answers:
how to get there - a plane perhaps, try expedia.co.uk, air transat and fly zoom for prices
where to stay - downtown, again expedia.co.uk will provide you with hotel options
where to get tickets- try www.molsonindy.com

Thanks. I sort of figured a plane was a good start as I can't swim that far! What I really need to know is how to get there FROM the airport!!! How far is it, is there a good public transport system, would a cab cost a fortune etc.

There are some shuttle buses that will get you downtown....a lot cheaper then a cab...the trip...depending on time of day will take about 45 mins to an hour

Is,nt it Vancouver that has the Metro system that goes through the middle of the circuit? You can see the trains during the race coverage. One advantage of street circuits is that getting there and finding accomodation nearby is the least of your problems. At Long Beach the tram to downtown LA stops in the next street to the pits!
Right now my problen is getting from here to Donington Park on a Sunday-impossible.

Finally, my expertise will shine here.
Stay at either the Holiday Inn Harborside (it's where all the teams stay) or the Centry Plaza (a 4 block walk) or the Holiday Inn Express )2 blocks away)
Take a cab - our transit STINKS.

No matter where you stay, I'll tell you one thing, Vancouver has to be one of the most beautiful cities you will ever find. The location is stunning.
Enjoy

I can just see that on the ticket order form. Do you want the Sober Stand or the Bombed Bleachers?

Hi Misterx,
Go to the website and review the options.
http://www.molsonindy.com/vancouver/hospitalityinfo.php
I sit in the executive trackside boxes each year and even though they are more expensive I find the amenities far superior to the other hospitality areas. The others you are still sitting in the granstand. Margo Johnstone is great to deal with and her email is on the top of the page. With your exchange rate helping you out it may be the best for you!

Strongly recommend you toddle of to WH Smith and buy a 'Lonely Planet'** guide to Vancouver. Bought one myself for a trip earlier this year and they are full of useful info. If you want clean, safe accomodation on the cheap, try Hostelling International. Good luck.
(** please note other holiday guides are available!)
