This is great news all round. A second oval, a wonderful lcoation and a great bill, all with plenty of time for fans and promoters to prepare. Fingers crossed that this'll become a regular jewel in OWRS' crown.

Unlike MIS, LVMS does not have a BYOB policy, you can't even bring in a cooler!
Bummer.
I hope the event doesn't sell out too fast - only Earnhardt Terrace seems to still be available - and I can't order mine for nine more days!

McDaddy, I ordered four tickets yesterday, got Row 78 of 80, so I think in nine days you should be okay. It appears that the track gave big discounts for the club seats to the people who bought tickets for the truck races. I never thought to ask about tickets other than the Earnhart Terrace.

The place is HUGE. It can hold 150,000 I think. I was there for a Winston West cup event.

Okay I know we are all euphoric over this (and I still am), but I have to be a voice fo reason here: I am praying that this does not turn into another Texas Motor Speedway debacle. Can Champ Cars run safely in Vegas?

The banks are only 12 degrees at Vegas, and it is a 1.5 mile oval....

they are much steeper at Texas....I don't forsee a problem....

Theoretically yes they can. The banking is less, 15 degrees vs 18 (that is a lot by the way) and the cars now have 'only' 650 HP compared to the 8-900 they had at the TMS debacle...
Wouldn't hurt to have OWRS have a mid-season test and media session there...good PR

NOTE:

To be sure that we're comparing actual banking numbers for each facility:

Texas Motor Speedway's corners have 24 degree banking...

Las Vegas has 12 degree banking....

Less than half....a HUGE difference...should be no problem whatsoever for Champ Cars to run there, and the Texas situation will not be a factor at all....

Michigan is 2.0 miles...

Las Vegas is closer to Kansas Speedway or Nashville in shape than it is to Michigan or Fontana

Las Vegas is really a tri-Oval, whereas Michigan is known as a D-shaped Oval...so is Fontana...

Phoenix has an irregular shape to it....one end of it has a smaller, and higher banked corner than the other, and the dogleg is closer to the tighter of the two turns...

Las Vegas has a regular shape to it....
