Theoricaly not ; I can't see ACO trying to spoil ALMS after having promote it.
I'm just a poor bugger, that's why I don't understand ACO's choice.
Well, beyond that, that's another race ! And the season is longer that way !

Its good news and bad news as far as I key see. Great to see a 5th race, great to sportscar racing going into a new market. But having the race the same weekend as Laguna Seca is a silly thing to do.

This raises an interesting question. The ACO are solely responsible for the scheduling of PQ and LM itself. Who's responsible for scheduling and negotiating with the tracks for LMES?
A hint: immediately after FIA and ACO announce GT harmonization, and ACO issues the target GT1 lap time, this same guy announced a joint GT venture with JGTC (whose GT500s are miles faster than GT1s). And he timed the announcement to occur while all the ACO folks were safely hidden in the LMES banquet...

i would rather see a 5th LMES race as although i am an avid fan of the ALMS, i would rather have another LMES round because thats where the action is this year unfortunatley...
until the ALMS picks up its game i don't think its worth giving the ALMS an open end to the schedule
and turkey will be a great success IMO, they have a lot of energy as far as promoting their country/track and will do a great job with the race. i'm sure it will be the most attended race on the LMES schedule as well...

Ratel did it....Well ACO too.
I was trying to put togheter a budget for LMES and those ..rs
invent a fifth race?
That's 1000km more on cars, tires and budget and furthermore they do it in Turkey (it was too smart to do it closer) and on a conflicting date with ALMS......
How do we go and explain to sponsors that we need 20% more of what we asked for?
Fia Gt is dying and Lmes will follow if we go on like this....
Fab, let me know if you want to do a thread on the downsizing of Fia Gt....As of now I count 9 cars that were there last year....gone!

Anyone noticed that this event will be a double header between FIA GT and the LMES? Go check www.fiagt.com and see the provisional calender. Should be a cracking weekend!

I just re-checked the FIA GT website and it says that the Instanbul round is 18/09/2005, which is a month before the LMES round......

considering how much money Turkey is throwing around for the first year of the Istanbul circuit's existence, i don't think the LMES would expand to 5 dates like this, especially into Turkey without some major incentives to give to teams to travel... if the LMES did this without incentives then i think the LMES including ACO and Ratel might be dumber than i thought

Not only would it conflict with Laguna, it certainly isn't going to encourage any LMES teams to make the jaunt to Petit, which will be at the beginning of October.
