Ted Walker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ANYONE interested in Historic Racig should make the effort to attend,to make sure it continues next year. Ian Williamson and his team have make a huge step forward from last years show(which was brilliant).

Looks like a good selection of cars will be in action outdoors again - last years short stage was good (but really, really cold). Looking forward to seeing the slowly sideways crowd in action again.

Unlikely to be that car I think as it is not finished it's restoration (It's the one that was on Top Gear), In fact I have heard they haven't even started restoring it yet!

I think it is more likely to be Aaltonens winning car from 1965.

I hope to attend on Sunday.

A word to the wise - I was in the hall for setup of the show yesterday, and the organisers have not addressed the heating problem as promised.

In a word, it's freezing in there. So wrap up warm, and I mean WARM - there's a lot of snow on the ground, but the exhibits are rolling in.

I should clarify I think, having read my post again. By "organisers", I mean the Stoneleigh show site, not Ian Williamson who is the brain behind the Historic Motorsport Show. Ian has worked wonders to get this show to work and I really hope it pays off for him.

I know Ian was determined to do something about the criticism from the autojumble and trade stands in Hall 3 last year, but the efforts made by the site really haven't fixed the problem.

So head on to the show, last year was excellent, this one looks to be even better, but keep the woolies close to hand!

Cracking show Grommit!

Well I have just recovered from the rigours of the Stoneleigh trip! Despite a chaotic trip home - it took 45 minutes longer most of it on the M6 - it was well worth it.

The MAC stand is superb, it may only have three cars on it but they are so well displayed complete with massive period photographs as a backdrop. There is a superb selection of cars including two BRMs, two Tyrrells and two Lancia Stratos.

Steer clear of the collectors hall if you don't want your bank manager to have a fit!

Only complaint was the hall for the autojumble which was even colder than last year!!!!!

In my opinion the event is a lot better than last year and is a must!

Expansion or selection?

I know the organisers would like to fit in more cars however they are currently at the maximum contiguous space that Stoneleigh can provide. Simply put if they want more stalls and cars then they would have to be in at least two seperate buildings. This would spoil the atmosphere and by what criteria would you split up the stall holders?

So I understand they are, like Fagin, reviewing the situation. The possibilities are either stay at Stoneleigh and try to be selective on who they rent stall space to or find an alternate venue that would provide greater floor space.

Whatever the decision, just like Arnie, I'll be back!

The Historic Motorsport Show is how such shows should be, informal, acces all areas and enthusiastic stall holders. Long may it continue and thrive!
