Lol, very nice Glen.
It's not impossible that it's true. Wouldn't it be interesting if now that Richards is gone, BAR picked up JV for 2006?

Add this to the 'wish we were still on Bridgestones' alleged moan that we heard from Honda last year.
Before we start, note to all - please don't turn this into another JV v BAR thread.....!

"Wish we were still on B'stones?" What - just to make things a bit harder?
I honestly am not trying to turn this into a JV-bash (really), but the only way he'll get anywhere near a top team in 2006 is if he has a cracking year in 2005 and beats Massa convincingly. My opinion on the likelihood of that is well known...

Glen - my post wasn't aimed at you directly - just a 'heads up' generally.
Apparently Honda was allegedly upset with the Bridgestone deal more over business embarassment, it has close commercial ties with Bridgestone and some mutual directors (IIRC).

Uh huh, then why is it that you seize every opprtunity to do so?
This is about Honda's senior engineering staff's assessment of JV's setup and feedback. As the article says, DR, JB etc... get credit for the emergence of BAR in '04, but who was the guy who was there since day one, working toward that goal? JV must have contributed ... and likely much more than he will ever be given credit for.

Because, not very observant friend, Snrub brought forward the suggestion that JV could get back into BAR. Also - where did I say anything to run JV down (in this thread!) - I merely pointed out that he'd be very unlikely to get a good job in 2006 unless he beats his relatively inexperienced team-mate. We shall see.
I have also pointed out the supreme irony of a compliment coming from the direction of Honda, since according to most JV-ites it was reliability that made him look so bad in the first place.

You know, with all the sensors, wind tunnels and general computer aided gizmotics in F1 now days, I sometimes wonder if we place a little too much emphasis on "the one man making a difference in development".
Sure, feedback and feel of a car are pretty important, but I don't exactly see World-War III esq bidding wars going on over test drivers??? Surely if JV made THAT much difference we would have seen BAR poaching a raft of experienced test drivers? Likewise wouldn't we see other teams using "old-salts" as test drivers rather than guys with little to no F1 "race" experience?

I'd imagine Honda miss JV like a hole in the head.
As talented as Jacques is, a car and engine sorter he ain't!

He certainly has more experience at running Honda engines than any of the current field.
