Fab, does the gravel in the trap look like the same sharp kind that has caused so many problems with tyres?
It looks like some of the traps have been extended, does this mean the viewing areas have been pushed back. (is this because they expect McCrash this year!)
The new tramac behind the grandstand is welcome. does this extend all the way down?

Dunlop Bridge
No chance that the run to the esses has been put back to the way it should be

is it just me or does it look like they've opened up the dunlop chicane for better overtaking and to carry more speed thru there into the new section after the bridge?

Yes, they didn't change it.

For now, I don't think so. Actally, they destroyed the inside concrete wall (not the one beeing side of the public, but the small one track side). There's now ARMCO (is it the accurate word) - watch pics above. The public is not pushed away, because the public's side wall didn't move.

No, the track is not opened wider here, but there's more tarmac behind the kerbs... anyway, this esse is gonna be changed in the years to come, at the demand of motorbikes. But changed how ? I dunno...

Works in progress at LM
The big work stuff began at LM : the open road behind the Ford chicanes will move back to let more place to the public along the track : check it on Infocourse...
There'll be a wider gravel trap at the last Ford chicane, just before the starting straight, to avoid fatal wreckages at this spot - and maybe give more confidence to the drivers !
And more to come after the 2005' race...

Don't tell me, they're taking the chicanes off the Mulsanne, undoing the carbuncle on the run to the Esses?
Stuff of dreams.......

I've always enjoyed watching from there, but also felt uncomfortable for the drivers, they should have more protection. But I expect it's really being done for the bikes, who come into that corner from a quite different and as I recall, more dangerous angle.

As a photographer, thats one of the best spots specially during qualifying wed. and thurs. nights.
I hope that the redrawing of the chicane won't hurt the angle us photogs get!
