Andy Caldecott
Once again the Dakar rally proves what a cruel event it can be.
Today, we lost the Australian rider Andy Caldecott. He suffered a large accident at the 250km mark and was killed instantly.
It was his third Dakar, after a non-finish in 2004 he excelled and finished 6th last year with two stage wins, which drew him to the attention of Jordi Arcarons and led to his place in the KTM-Repsol team last year.
Rest in peace Andy.

Just stunned when I heard the news on the radio.
The ride this year was a dream-come-true for Andy - he was a late inclusion to the team as well - and he'd been doing a pretty impressive job.
I feel for his partner and their young child - my deepest sympathies to them and everyone that knew him.
Rest in Peace Andy Caldecott.

Another very sad loss. Sincere commiserations to family and friends, and to his fans, particularly our friends and colleagues in Australia.
Andy, RIP
