Mark Webber, a simple question.
Am i the only one to think that MW`s end of season pick up in form had more than a little to do with NH`s departure, can i just point out this isn`t another Webber bash just what i think is a very valid point. I think NH really rattled MW this year, i don`t think he beat him by any means, infact i think they were a very evenly matched pairing but i do think MW expected to beat NH and when he didn`t i think he overdrove the car more and more and it must have really hurt when NH was always glued to the rear wing doing the metronome bit, anyway exit Nick, enter AP who MW knows he has the beating of, bob`s your uncle, pressure is off and the performance picks up, it all makes perfect sense to me anyway, any thoughts?

No i mean Antonio Pizzonia, he came in when NH got injured, Webber has never rated AP as far as i know, hence pressure is off as he knows he has the beating of him.

That's a question that can never be answered unless we go back in time and make Heidfeld not have that accident.
Having said that I think Pizzonia put more pressure on Webber - especially after that first race @ Monza. Webber failed to comprehensively beat Heidfeld, and if he didn't do that to Pizzonia as well who he did beat @ Jaguar then it would have been worst than ending the year with less points than NH.

It is an interesting question. MW defintely was feeling some pressure from Nick. That became very evident when he criticized Nick for not being aggressive enough, but to be honest I think Mark just needed some time in the Williams. His late season form makes him a driver to watch for in '06.

No, I don't think Nick or AP had any great influence on Mark's driving whatsoever. Much has been made about the "Nick just sits there" comment, but the truth is this was nothing more than a remark said in jest when he was asked about some of his erratic driving at the start of the season. It was a self deprecating comment and nothing more despite what others would have everyone believe.
The simple fact is Mark drove poorly in a bad car at the start of the year and better toward the end of the season as the car improved.

Mark Webber is a good driver yes, not a excellent one which is why he wont win in F1. He should to Aussie V8 supercars. All in my humble opinon of course.

Am I the only one who notices that most MW queries/criticism comes from the UK? All this "Hell never win a GP" opinion etc ... from a group of supporters who also seem to believe he would have been dominated by the GREAT Jenson Button if he had come to Williams. The same Button who er .... hasnt won a GP?? And who got beast by MW in the last 2 GPs of the year ....Plenty of good reasons for that I often read!
I think we tend to over analyze things a lot of the time. MWs late season improvement in 'form' was nothin g more than Williams finally half overcoming their early season aero screw ups and providing their drivers with half a car. IMO of course.

Goodness me, they are all the same threads aren't they?
Yet again, I'll say what i usually say.
Alonso for most of 2004 was slower than Trulli, and didn't win a race. Sometimes car and driver don't bond as well as they usually do, but still, i'm not going to say it was a good year for him. But the fact that he managed to put a Minardi and Jaguar in places where no Minardi or Jaguar should ever tread, I still reckon he's good enough for F1, definatelly.
See what happens next year.

Yes but Twig, the Jaguar of 2004 was IMO a decent car, I mean they finished the teams championship in 7th place overall. What he did with the Jaguar was impressive I agree, but the car was fairly decent too, Pizzonia also showed this, ok he finished behind Webber in the WDC but he had been in F1 for 1 year less than Webber and was therefore a little more inexperinced, it was also his first year with Jaguar where as it was Webbers 2nd year with Jaguar.
But all that is beside the point, neither Pizzonia or Webber are world beaters IMO. This year will be a make or break season for Webber IMO, hes been in F1 for a few years now and has showed some promise but he has IMO failed to capitalise on it and he has over driven the car, particulary in 2005. Personally Id love to see him prove me wrong and do a decent job for Williams next year, I just dont see it happening though.

SALEEN. Pizzonia drove for Jaguar in 2003 not 2004. Webber scored 17 points to Pizzonia's 0 - Wilson who took over for a few races managed 1 point.
2004 Webber was partner by Klien who scored 3 to Webber's 7 points.
Also I'm not sure I agree that 7th out of 10th = a decent car.
