Canon To Launch 2 new DSLR's?
I have just picked this up from another forum, but it looks like Canon are going to lanuch 2 new DSLR's - the 5d and the 1DN MK II.
There is not, much information about at the momment here are some details on the 5D, it looks like the 5D is going to be quite expensive around £2400.
and here is the 1DN Mk II it looks like its a update on the D1 MkII and will cost about £2900.

Yeh I just had the weekly dpreview newsletter arrive in my inbox. Saw these announcements.
'Canon Day' I think, what with a whole host of new camera's and lenses announced.
Yes the EOS 5D looks interesting... bit pricey though. Maybe the 20D will now start to drop drastically in price?

The 5D at £2400 is about on a par price wise with the 1D MKII isn't it.
Having bought my 10D right before it was superceded I think I may have to wait just a little longer before upgrading. I was going to go for 1D MKII but if theres a 1DNMKII on its way I perfhaps should wait and get that or get a 1D MKII cheaper

I bought my lenses with a 1.6 factor in mind so it would be a bit of a pain to go FF now - even though I always used to long for one.
Also, it does seem like quality at the edges of the frame is a bit of an issue. With a crop you're using the best part of the lens and get good sharpness right across the picture. The samples on the Canon site aren't that great at the edges (if you can look past the oversharpening and saturation etc)
Am I right in thinking the new camera doesn't support the ef-s lenses? If so, I'm glad I didn't get any - I always had this nagging feeling that they might be limited in their use in the future.

Hi everyone, it's been a while I know but I wonder what people's thoughts are on these bodies now ?
I am about to buy either one of them and wonder if anyone here has experience with either (or both perhaps ?) and could steer me either way. I have to say I am confused by their similarities and differences.
Any feedback most gratefully received.
Thanks

It's confusing here as well. Canon now has DSLRs: D30, EOS 1DnII, EOS 1Ds, the new 5D, (plus various lower line Rebels & etc) not to mention some earlier lenses made for the D20 (my "bad weather" body) that won't work on the newer, bigger chip bodies at all.
Hard to figure what the next move will be... perhaps back to art school to learn to sketch cars (instead of the human form), and lighten up by carrying some charcoal and a pad! Imagine the attention that would get on some corner.

All this confusion is one reason I'm glad I went Olympus when I bought a DSLR...
Constant 2x equivalence to 35mm. Regardless which body I have.
In response to the current question, I would take a 5D, if I could guarantee NO rain. 5D is not sealed, and does not like water at all.
I'm not counting Canon as a choice for me, BECAUSE of the EF/EF-S confusion...
YM of course MV!

I think you mean 1D MKII N as I believe the 1DS is only 4fps. The 1DS costs a lot more too.
