VE Spy pics - Woomera Magic!

For those that haven't seen today's AA. These pics were captured during aero testing at Woomera airstrip under the watchful eye of a Tega rep and a camerman hiding in the bushes I guess.

Interesting pics billy. I assume the rear bumper is going to get a remake before it is used?

Orange? I know Uncle Tom owns Toll HSVDT, but orange on a red factory car?

Mayby that would be the 2007 Toll HSVDT livery.

That looks a different orange to the HSVDT orange - in fact that looks almost like a DayGlo orange/red. Is that a possible tribute by Holden/TWPG for the launch car? Wasn't there a rumor that they were going to get Brockie to do the demo lap at bathurst this year (like Dick did with the BA falcon at bathurst 02)? Or, Maybe they are using DayGlo as a 'mix' of HRT Red/HSVDT Orange.

Mind you, without the helmet behing the lion's head, thats an HSVDT thing. And, maybe with Todd driving, that could be a hint to a 2007 driver lineup/new orange to be used on their Toll Cars???

Looks good. Have they jumped over their weight problems? Because I was reading in V8X that the VE Supertaxi might be heavier than the current VZ Commie Supertaxi.

It's hard to tell it apart either from the BA or from the old VZ range.

So, how many model changes is it now since Holden has run a 5 litre V8?

Will the V8s still be running the same engines in 10 years' time when neither Holden nor Ford may be producing any V8 engined vehicles?

I think instead of importing GM/Ford US Racing NASCAR blocks and developing their own. I would like to see 6.0L high tech engines developed by Ford Australia and Holden Motorsport.

might also be a bit of a Brock tribute

I also doubt this is what the paint scheme will look like if/when its shown at bathurst

It's a bit "meh" for my liking. I like the front, but the rest of it seems to have no relevance...

A few points I think about these photos.
  • The artwork treatment on the bonnet probably reflects the branding of two factory teams i.e. get them looking more like a stable
  • I dont think it is da-glo orange. Its more likely to be the filters used in the photography.
  • 07 would have to do with 2007 i.e. you are looking at the 2007 weapon
  • It could be a real possibility that Todd will be with toll next year
  • Weight reduction shouldnt be an issue. Engineers can get pretty clever by removing and remodelling. The road car might be 100kgs heavier but a number of components contributing to that will not be relevant to a race car
  • Isnt the VE a beautiful looking car
  • These bulleted lists are cool

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
If you look at the pictures in the magazine, it looks like they are using a bi plane rear wing on the car, I didn't think that they where legal?

The outside styling is very good but the interior is dreadful. A combination of plastic painted silver, plastic wood grain or plain matt plastic.

If the theme was hard plastic Holden have achieved their goal, but it makes the cockpit anything but inviting.

Luckily we dont have to worry about that much in the racer! Carbon, Metal and maybe a little bit of the plastic

Does the rear wing extend further behind the current car or is it an optical illusion

any word on whether the VE will use the same wheel base/track as the current car, as on the road going version, its much bigger, new wheel base wont comply with project blueprint which specifies a set wheel base, track and suspension pick up points. We could go back to days of swapping new panels onto an old chassis

The race car is shorter with the turret shortened and the body cut through the rear doors.

Under blueprint it has to be the same as the current specifications
