[WTCC] Race 17 & 18 - Valencia (ESP), 7/8 October 2006

Young Spaniard in factory SEAT León
SEAT Sport will enter a seventh factory car at the Valencia event. The car is driven by Oscar Nogués Farré, winner of the 2005 SEAT León Supercópa. Before this championship he won two national karting titles – in the 1993 F-CEK and the 1994 F-Inter A – and then moved to the Renault Mégane and Clio trophies, clinching the Clio Cup crown in 2003. The young Spaniard is also three times winner of the 24 Hours of Barcelona. In the current season Oscar Nogués is competing again in the SEAT León Supercópa and lies 5th in the classification.

Swiss team Maurer Motorsport will enter their Chevrolet's at Valencia. Besides their regular driver Vincent Radermecker, young woman María de Villota will race.

If Tom Coronel will not have major problems he will clinch the Yokohama Independent Trophy title at Valencia. It would be a nice gift to SEAT in SEATland.

Are there any images available of the Maurer Chevrolets?

Will be nice to see some Lacettis wearing a different livery than the regular blue one. Not that there's anything wrong with the factory blue one, of course, but a little variety never hurt anyone

Thanks for the link. Not exactly what I had hoped for (primarily black would've been real nice... can't go wrong with a black Chevy), but oh well...

E46 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Watching practice times the weekend promises a lot action. SEAT on top, but with Chevy, Alfa and BMW being fast too.

The weight ballast system strikes again!

So, of our championship contenders, who's got the best shot of improving?

Priaulx (58pts) - starts 17th
Tarquini (57pts) - starts 15th
Rydell (54pts) - starts 16th
D Muller (51pts) - starts 22nd
Thompson (49pts) - starts 7th
Farfus (46pts) - starts 1st
J Muller (46pts) - starts 9th
Y Muller (45pts) - starts 14th
Terting (44pt) - starts 8th

Safe bet Farfus & maybe Thompson can put themselves back in the fight. Goal for the main bunch is to get into the top 8 and hold the fort in race two.

Gap between position 1 and 22 is only 0.99 seconds!!!

The weight penalties have indeed influenced qualifying but thats part of the game.

Technical problems for Radermecker?

alfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
James Thompson and Alessandro Zanardi have been penalised. Thommo will be backed 10 places on the grid - engine change. Zanardi improved his lap times during the morning warm up session while the yellow flags were deployed and he has the same penalty, but suspended till the end of the season.

Didn't know this could harm your position on the grid.
