Driver TBA should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
AUSCAR's... Where are they now?

Hi all,
Long time reader first time poster.
Reading the current issue of 'Motor Racing Australia' magazine spured me on the ask this question.
In the tribute to PB there is a photo of him driving a mobil sponsored XF Ford Falcon AUSCAR. What has happened to this car plus the many other AUSCAR's built over the years? While I figured that most early models would have been stripped of there race components to go into a newer model car with the body most likely off to the tip. I know alot of the later models (ie. VS/EL) ended up as Future Tourers, but did any survive?

Cheers

I believe the 1986 (?) Bathurst Winning Commodore ended up as an AUSCAR and destroyed in a crash, does this sopund right or is it another well known Commodore that suffered this fate?

Close. The '86-winner is still alive and well; it was Allan Grice's '87 Bathurst car that was turned into an Auscar. The story was detailed in AMC not that long ago. The VL Commodore in question ran in Group A trim in 1987, was converted to an Auscar for Steve Harrington for the 88-89 season, then was later sold to the Fastrack oval racing school as a training car.

A couple of the old AUSCAR's can be seen regularly competing in VMRC & AMRS rounds here in Victoria under the AASA umbrella.

MickAU has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
There were about 6 or 7 that Wakefield Park were using as drive/ride cars
