Was thinking the same GTR.
And what is the Herald's agenda here?
It's starting to smell like a witch-hunt...
Is this a cadet reporter looking for something to put on his CV?
Or does the Herald have an axe to grind with Mr Johnston?

Is the SMH drip feeding the story every day, or are they genuinely discovering new links and information?

I think there is more an it is being drip fed...but what fascinates me , what other organisations in Australia are involved in the activities of Firepower?
They are the sort of "Organisation" that can open doors , where others cannot . Also the general media silence on the issue is intriguing. Guess others have something to hide and do not want a media spotlight on Firepower.

Just had some confirmation on that and that there is some heavy investigative journalism going on. He is trying to get a handle on the info he is receiving.

Presuming any of this actually happened of course..

Boris Badinov and his lady friend Natasha are the sponsorship coordinators.

The SMH people have drawn all sorts of oddities together, but they havent really delved into what the hell Firepower actually is, nor whether there is a level of commercial viability to the products or the projects.
The associations as discussed by the SMH are phenomenal... all the sports stars and sports teams, plus the MacBank link that came from the sports teams....
It looks too good to be true as a proposition... what isnt made clear is why the prinicpals are touting for equity investments, yet are comfortable supporting all these sporting teams
When a rocket scientist like Mr Carey is allegedly told he can get a "tenfold" return on his investment... it rings alarm bells to me...

just seems funny they are putting their name out there but their product is hardly anywhere, yet they have all these connections, and with these connections you think they would have more products and avaliability of them everywhere, and i also find it strange they are reportedly putting heaps of dollars into Tasman yet they are only getting 4 rounds yet the suposed other 2 sponsers get 5 each one more than Firepower yet they arn't paying as much, IMO if you have a company you would want value for money.
with somany sports people I.E Carey, Waugh, etc have shares inthis company with a gaurantee of tenfold seems sus to me.

You wonder what the "Big End" of Town in the shape of Macquarie Bank has got to do with it? What is being peddled to Sports luminaries that is so fascinating?.
If this comes out as the basis for a Movie, I will be the first to see it.

We'll considering the Russian KGB hasn't existed (the name and much of the operational capacity changed) for more than 10 years... Prior to that, the Russian Govt traded arms fairly openly.

The name has been changed, but it is still the KGB. I do not think its operational capacity has changed that much as it is still involved in spying and the occasional "wet operation". It does not have its private armies as far as I know.

Not really ...deals with third world countries that were favourable to the Soviet Union were done through "front companies" operated by the KGB.

Fairly Open?
Every year (up until 1997, the periods I have studied) thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of arms went missing. There are alot of wealthy Russian military commanders and ex KGB staffers who got out of the country after selling quite a few weapons.
Why were these missing arms never made transparent? Probably because we're not just talking "small arms" such as pistols and rifles.... Draw your own conclusions there!
Now, as to how this all fits in with "Firepower"? I'm not going to say anything at all, as I don't know enough of whats going on.
There are a few circumstances of companies seemingly not having product out in the public sponsoring teams. Larko could write a book on ICS and their Smartcard incentive, I am sure.
In the end, as long as they pay up, what is it to us what their "other" investments are? I am sure there's a few of us that might not ever look at Greg or Jason again in the same lihgt because they were paid to drive through potentially dirty money, but I'm sure they will find solice in their Kombi vans and enjoy some easy listening folk music :P
