Ian, I've had a 350d for a while now and have been very happy with it, I've got the 18-55 lens that came with the camera and a 75-300 - those two have served me well. The camera is capable of far more than I am

Assuming this is for your personal use not for professional then there really is nothing wrong with the 350d (if you're looking at professional then the 10D and 20D are more popular). It's also fairly resilient - it's had a bit of a soaking at the WTCC meeting at Brands and Combe rallyday and it's put up with that very well

I really wouldn't reccomend testing it's waterproofness (not a word but who cares!) any further though.
