Driver Guillermo Castellanos died from multiple head and body injuries after a 3-car pileup during todays race of Turismo Carretera at Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. After the pile-up, his car has caught a principle of fire, and after five minutes of action, firemen and marshalls had to cut the car to get Castellanos out of it.
The race was red-flagged, but was resumed more than half an hour later, finally won by Matías Rossi (Chevrolet). TV transmission by Carburando announced the demise of Castellanos just when the broadcast was about to end.
Condolences for the family of Castellanos and the people of his racing team.
Note: In spite of Argentinian Turismo Carretera series did its conversion from a Rally series to a Stock Car/NASCAR-esque series, I'll inform TC news at this forum.
