Using my own innaccurate guesswork...

I think Kimi is the highest with an approx $50m retainer, whilst the likes of Albers and Sutil probably won't be salaried. They'll receive an agreed cut of their sponsorship monies instead, which will probably be in the region of $200 - 300k.

I would think he is currently on a fairly modest salary.

NEXT year, OTOH, well, that will probably be quite a bit more respectable.

I think Lewis is on something like £250,000 plus all the free Hugo Boss clothes and TAG watches he could wish for.

Ralf is on something daft like $18Million.

Yup, Lewis' isn't as much as the rest of the grid. But as you say, freebies too.
But, as Dutton says, next year, i feel he'll be asking for a little more.

I think that says more about Willi Weber's abilities than Ralf's, to be honest.

'The Real Cost of F1' in the March issue of F1 Racing, the magazine listed estimated annual salaries of the 10 highest-paid drivers this season.

1: Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, US$51 million
2: Ralf Schumacher, Toyota, US$25 million.
3: Fernando Alonso, McLaren, US$22 million.
4: Jenson Button, Honda, US$18 million.
5: Rubens Barrichello, Honda, US$12 million.
6: Jarno Trulli, Toyota, US$10 million.
7: Felipe Massa, Ferrari, US$8 million.
8: Giancarlo Fisichella, Renault, US$7 million.
9: Mark Webber, Red Bull, US$5 million.
10. Takuma Sato, Super Aguri, US$4.5 million.

The list reflects significant raises for a number of drivers, including Alonso, who made $7.2 million last season, Button, $7.2 million, and Ralf Schumacher, $20.4 million.

Michael Schumacher ended his career at the end of last season as the highest-paid F1 driver ever at US$62.4 million, with at least another US$17 million from personal endorsements and merchandising. That left him second to golfer Tiger Woods (US$100 million) as the top earner in professional sport.

Yes, but it will be money provided by his backers, rather than out of his own pocket.

I wonder if Lewis's contract and pay is already set for next season? We could, theoretically have a lowly paid (in comparison) WDC on the grid next season.

it makes me laugh that raikkonen gets $45m more than Massa and mass is trouncing him on points.

to go off on a slight tangent Jeremy clarkson had a good idea IMO pay all the drivers $50k a year and then every time they make a proper on track over taking manouver for position get $1m, then you'll see more over taking. i like that idea
