FOS Thanks !!
Just wanted to say I had a great weekend on Post 6/Buggy Crossing. Thanks again Alan for being a great observer, and as always thanks for being a laugh Kath, Dave, Mark and Dee. It was good to marshal with you again George. Even if you do seem to be my rain charm.
Shame the weekend was marred by the weather being ****e on Sunday and not letting up all day. Even us, the psychotic waving post, had lost thier smiles by late afternoon.
The thing that really annoyed me was at the end. Letting all the lorries down the hill the moment it was closed so none of the buses carrying, cold, wet, ****ed on/off marshals back to the camping/carpark could get up the hill, we had to take some random track, getting stuck in traffic with the general plebs through the Golf course. It took nearly 45 minutes to an hour, to get back to the top of the hill Probably wouldn't have bothered me too much but having been rained on for so long with the number of cars dwindling, the crowd vanishing and the river on track getting bigger. I wasn't the only one starting to really want to be in the bath and not at the races.
Still had a great weekend on the whole just the last few hours were misery. Looking forward to next year, as regardless of weather you can't beat the atmosphere and specticle of the GFOS.

My thanks to all the marshals working with me in the turnround area, especially the two guys from NI. Not the best conditions for push starting cars, crowd control around Lewis Hamilton, etc.
Some personal accolades --
Politest driver -- Rowan Atkinson in the Napier-Railton, an assembly area dream, did everything requested of him, immediately.
Most excited -- Amanda Stretton, waiting to go uo the hill on the pillion of the Ducati race-bike. Even with the helmet on, one could see the smile.
Crowd pleaser, apart from Lewis who attracted the biggest crowd, Emerson Fittipaldi, who almost missed his slot as he was busy at the fence signing autographs for specators.
The F1 support teams, who were not the "prima donnas" usually associated with the F1 circus.
Finally all the drivers and supporters for co-operating in ****e conditions.

Dan,
Agree with you about close of play Sunday, got stiched with my quick transport on Sunday morning so had to park in marshals car park.
Friday & Saturday got a lift with Goodwood Rescue so in and out the short route plus, drop off & pick up on post spoilt or what!!
Maybe Sunday was down to the fact we live so close as I found others on the bus didn't seem as bothered as I was about the long trip to get the car.
Most seem to say at least we are in the warm and dry, dosn't alter the fact we should have been in the warm and dry at home while they were sitting in traffic.

A big thanks from a spectator to the marshals for their work, politeness, stoicism and whatnot. As you say the Sunday conditions were hardly the greatest. I was not envious.
And the young lady in green 17 was very cute.

A huge thank you to everyone around the crossroads/cathedral paddock area.
In spite of the dreadful weather we had a good time, thanks Liz for the strawberries!! Thanks also to the drivers for their good humour in the wet. We were debating which car would be best for water-sking behind!!!!
Will echo the sentiments of the other posters on the shambles at the end of the day. Who ever gave permission for the lorries to come down the hill that early should be made to wait 40 mins for a bus while being soaked & cold. A matter that needs attention before next year!!

Cannot go without giving my thanks to my 3 mates on the forgotten post - Finish Line 2 - who stood in a muddy forest clearing all day, no transport to paddock other than Shank's Pony, no action because all the cars were slowing down before the top paddock, too far from said paddock to see anything other than squirrel s****, too far from the start to even hear anything, a stroppy miserable git of a course car driver, zero toilet or food facilities and lots and lots of cherry-sized raindrop bombs falling from trees all weekend. BUT all made up for by special wheelies just for us by the wonderful Stingray, several bikers and lots and lots of waves from the vintage/classic drivers and a huge double-arm wave from Sir Stirling. Forgotten? Probably, but unloved? No way. Thanks to all the drivers who gave us joy.

Hi all, I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the marshalls at crossing 5 including the spectator ones, it was a pleasure to work with you all under difficult conditions , especially Darrin & Kay i hope to meet up & work with you at Revival.
My accomadation is already booked for 08 G-FOS? No amount of water could deter me from the event, my first FOS, not my last.
A couple of points to make, speaking for all the marshals who braved the journey from across the shuck in Norn Irland!
THANK YOU to ALL - Roll on next year.
Driver of DTM car - Cheer up, it was us who stood out in the rain
I was so glad to get into the big house on Sunday i got my Signatures i wanted on a few dry patches on my overalls and met a lot of drivers, especially Jochan Mass who was an absolute Hoot , Sir Stirling was a true gent.
My Entertainer of the day goes to Chris on the Stunt bike: SUPERB
In case anybody dosnt know me? I am TIGGGERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Finish Line 2. Friday and Saturday only, I'm afraid. Had to leave on Sunday to go up north due to work commitments so I only got 2/3rds as wet as most.

Tigger,
Did you wear you're studded boots and take the buckets of water!
Thanks for the humour, and thanks to all the other guys (and girl) on 5 crossing for having a sense of fun right until the end, while still dealing with the incidents we had in a professional manner, especially the guy with the brush!
Thanks to Darrin and Chris for the breaks and a big thanks to all the drivers for their appreciation, especially the ones we got to talk to in our breaks.
Well done guys,
White flag man, now also know as Basil!

Glad to hear you all still had a good time despite the weather.
It only rained at night Germany, gorgeous during the day!
We did 925 miles in our 1959 VW splitty and met up with over 200 other old VWs!
It was good to have a year off but I'll be back at GW next year.
When will they sort out the transport back to the top of the hill for the marshals? I hope none of you hitched a lift in the back of a pick up, that's what lead to me busting my ankle last year!
