I take back my use of the word "mockery". That was unjustifed (a heat of the moment thing). My general complaint remains, but I am not making a huge deal of it.

I trust you agree 100% with absolutely everything to do with NASCAR, then? If you disagreed with something, well, then you would simply have to turn your responses to me on yourself.

I am in no way denegrating or disparaging NASCAR. I realise my initial phrasings could create that impression. I forget that not everyone is aware of the fact that I am not into destructive "discussions". I simply meant to raise something I disagree with.

If you were to go the F1 boards and moan like hell about it you would fit right in. It must be 0.000000000000000001% of the F1 enthusiasts that don't have a massive list of issues. I have plenty of issues with it, but this does not mean I don't love it.

However, if your mindset is that 100% obedience and agreement with the NASCAR Powers-That-Be-And-Their-Ideas is necessary for full enjoyment, well, then, that is OK. That is absolutely fine, but I simply do not take that approach to things.

To disagree with certain aspects of something does not have to be taken as some cataclysmic event.

Thought I might add to this statement.

A road course ringer has not won a Cup race for as long as I can remember. However, the last to do so in the Busch series was Ron Fellows, back in '01, I think.

As happened at WG, it is the cream of the crop of the regulars (both drivers and teams) that succeeded.

This is entirely logical and unsurprising.

Well, I mean there are some circumstances where a ringer will completely blow the doors of a normal guy.

So ringers still have their place.

The 2 'ringers" that have the best chance of winning a Cup road race are Ron Fellows and Boris Said (if Said is still a ringer). Fellows is starting to show a little age and his chances are starting to fade away. I don't really see any others winning in the near future. I thought that Watkins Glen was the best chance for a ringer to win but it didn't happen. They still make the racing interesting though.

Dutton, maybe I was a little too harsh. It just gets my dander up when I think someone is making fun of Nascar and its drivers and sometimes I overeact. Many of us frequently disagree with actions taken by Nascar. I for one do not like the change to the Chase from the old Championship point system. Under the old system Jeff Gordon would be well on the way to his 6h Championship.....but of course they don't race under the old system.

Yes, "The Chase". I do not like it either. A season, especially one as long, and with such big fields, as Nextel, thus success is reliant on consistency, should be about the season as whole. The Chase prevents an accurate portrayal.

That said, from a technical perspective, NASCAR has achieved exactly what it wanted to with its introduction. It was not a bad decision in this sense. Neither it is "unfair" as some try to claim (everyone consents to operate under the same system before the season begins, after all).

It is what it is, though, as you say: we Joe Scum don't have much choice but to go along with it, .

Please, lets not refer to it as the "Chase" but as the "Kenseth Ruling."

I don't much care for the The Chase myself. But it does make the run in tense on the other hand.

I suppose you just have to look at the season as a "tournament" instead of a "league".
