Villeneuve Plans For 2004

24 October 2003 - [12:35]
Villeneuve will be in F1 in 2004 and 2005!
GP2003.com

Craig Pollock confirmed to us at the Australian CART race today that former BAR driver Jacques Villeneuve should be in a Formula One race seat for the 2004 season, however he was refusing to five away too much information as to where the Canadian will actually be racing.

On Thursday, Pollock told a press conference that Villeneuve would be testing for McLaren in 2004 and racing with an unnamed team in the 2005 season. When we approached him at the Surfers Paradise venue. the penultimate round of the 2003 CART series, Pollock confirmed that plans were well underway.

"Yes, that's the situation," he told us with a smile. "The main thing is that we get him in a seat next season."

Never come across that website before. I can't believe that ITV didn't come up with this first.

We'll see if this one gets confirmed, or not.

This should set the cat amongst the pigeons....

On the face of it JV fits into McLaren's ethos like a square peg in a round hole...

But, assuming it does happen, if we move the chess pieces around the board, does this mean Wurz to Jaguar for 2004,and JV to Wiliams in 2005 replacing JPM who moves to McLaren?

The 2005 rumours start here!

Don't worry. Just getting the humour out of the way before the pro JV lobby starts in on the "kick out Kimi" campaign.

Its a rumour as with all things this year and for my part I hope it doesn't happen. JV proved in his time at BAR that he couldn't test and develop. Why would Macaroon see him differently?

I know .
I checked some of the other sites as well ITV, Planet F1, Live F1
No mention. Pollock looks like he made some kind of a offical statement. We'll see.

That's one place, Mclaren, I didn't think I'd see JV associated with.

I agree, this is BS.

McLaren would have announced it themselves, jointly with JV to milk the publicity for all it was worth.

Sorry JV fans, another wild goose chase.

The Mclaren stuff, no
Willams in 2005, yes ,a chance, if he drives in 2004.
Sitting out a year may be tough to come back.

If there is some truth in that, I see JV driving for Williams or Renault in 2005.

Wurz was confirmed as MAC tester so i seriously doubt this story.....

Besides knowing JV would he settle for a Testers role?? i think hed rather RACE in some lower series though if he has a seat confirmed for 2005 he wouldnt mind

Yeah, I agree. I don't think Villeneuve would seriously consider testing. Besides, can you really imagine Ron Dennis putting up with Villeneuve saying what he does?

As if JV would ever be a test driver!

I think he'll take an F1 sabbatical and do Le Mans or CART maybe, and try and get back into F1 in 2005.

If this is true: Test driver? That is demeaning as hell. Surely there is something he can race somewhere where he can have some dignity. Regardless, I don't think CART will happen.
