Ginetta launch 2013 Scholarship
Old 3 May 2012 19:35

Ginetta are once again offering one lucky youngster the chance to win a fully-funded season in the prestigious 2013 Ginetta Junior Championship, worth over £40,000, as they launch the Silverstone Ginetta Junior Scholarship programme.

One of two Ginetta support races to the British Touring Car Championship, the Ginetta Junior Championship is dedicated to developing young driving talent and provides an ideal first step onto the racing career ladder, providing the perfect platform for drivers to cut their teeth in the high-octane world of motorsport.

Run in partnership with the home to the British Grand Prix, the Silverstone Ginetta Junior Scholarship gives young racers a rare chance to experience the thrill of navigating the UK’s most prestigious circuit, with the ultimate prize of a season as a racing driver as an added bonus

General Manager of Ginetta, Simon Finnis said; “The Ginetta Junior Scholarship never fails to uncover raw racing talent from kids across the UK. Having seen previous winners Sennan Fielding and Oliver Basey-Fisher on the podium gives Ginetta a great sense of pride. We are dedicated to developing young talent and supporting drivers as they ascend the motorsport ladder, I am sure this year’s scholarship entrants will continue to impress.”

Over the course of three assessment rounds, which will include everything from a basic assessment of clutch, throttle, brake and steering control to full speed circuit driving, Silverstone and Ginetta will be looking for someone with ‘the overall racing package’ of speed, an ability to learn, professionalism, fitness and team work.

Offering massive television exposure on ITV as well as unrivalled column inches in the national motoring press, the Ginetta Junior Championship is a genuine avenue into top level racing including Formula One and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Previous winners include current Ginetta Junior Championship drivers Sennan Fielding and Oliver Basey-Fisher, who have both enjoyed podium spots so far this season. Basey-Fisher said; “Winning the scholarship has completely changed my racing career. It’s provided a fantastic opportunity for my future and has given me the chance to do something I never thought I would. Anyone who's thinking about it, just go for it!"”
