Out of respect for Sally, her family and friends can I suggest that this thread keeps to being one for messages of condolence and memories of Sally rather than going off into people's opinions on the rights and/or wrongs of the justice system, etc etc.

Just a thought.

Terrible

I don't think we ever met. Such a horrible thing to happen to "one of ours". RIP

I didn't know Sally, although I must have seen her around when I've marshalled at Woodcote, but nevertheless it is very shocking news and I send my condolences to her husband and family.

A fellow marshal who I had been on post with on Saturday at Anglesey showed me the article from the Daily Mail. It took me time to take in what was said and who it was, what a shock. Sending my condolences to her family.

Like Alan and Nick, I'd been marshalling with Sally on the Startline last week and was shocked to hear the news when I got to the circuit on Sunday. a lovely lady who will be very much missed by all her startline colleagues.

I have only just seen this news. Sally was a regular member of the GP startline crew, and was always cheerful and smiling. It is shocking to realise she will never be there again.

RIP Sally.

Loss is always hard to bear, this loss I am sure will be particularly so.

On behalf of all the Cadwell Marshals and BMMC (NE) - our condolences and thoughts are with you all.

Saddened and sickened by this terrible news. Didn't really know Sally, but we had met briefly, she was always very happy.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Rest in Peace Sally.

I have been informed there should be an opportunity to pay tribute to Sally during the F3/GT meeting at Silverstone this weekend.

The plan is that during the church break on Sunday morning marshals will be cleared to stand trackside and hopefully people in other areas will also be able to pause and join in.

An excellent idea to show our respects - hope an appropriate tannoy will explain to the crowds what's happening - even better if the race school area could be persuaded to shut down for this short period?.
I'll be with you in spirit at Colerne and hope that other marshals away from Silverstone can also remember at 11:00.

We're using the International Circuit so they won't be tyre squealing round Ireland like they sometimes do.

Like everyone I'm saddened and shocked at this, Sally was a one off and over the last 23 years or so I've been marshalling at Sillystone she always had a smile and a wave, either on recovery or on the startline. She will be missed, and our sympathy and condolences go to her family.

The world is now a poorer place. RIP Sally

A 2 minute silence was held at Silverstone today. Everyone stood trackside to remember Sally. It was observed perfectly, even the spectators kept silent. You could have heard a pin drop. Well done to all involved.

I didn't know Sally but was very moved by the tributes paid at the Silverstone Racing Club/Marshal Team hog roast saturday evening and the trackside tribute this morning, and could really see how popular she was. RIP

I have just heard the terrible news. I am in shock. I was last with Sally at a meeting in July, she and I were fellow Starline marshals and she was such a lovley person, my thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends at this sad time.

Very sad news indeed, although I never knew the woman I couldn't help but feel a little sad whilst standing trackside in silence at the recent F3/GT meeting at Silverstone.
One of us in Orange who was obviously involved as we all are due to one thing in common, a love of motorsport and a wish to help.
