I always try to pick one during qualifying and follow it's race progress. The reasons for choosing are vague. This year I went for #61 because it was the same shape as my Beemer and I liked the pale blue colour.
It was doing really well until it disagreed with the pit wall. |

yes in the past we run a sector bet. one pound entry. pick the winner. if more than one person picks the same and it wins the winnings are split, like lowering the odds. gets very nerve racking in the last hour or two when your in with a shout lol

That would be no fun at all.
On the Saturday I got a nice shot of what turned out to be the winning car, and I took a copy up on Sunday, which I had signed by all of the drivers. This will be offered up at the Classic Social evening raffle, so there is still some fun to be had. |

The Britcar 24 will be on Motors TV over the next few days. It looks like it is a 2 hour program, and will be on Saturday at 12:35 and repeated a number of times next week.

Interesting reading Andrew Frankel's piece in the July edition of Motorsport.
'After its two-year hiatus, organisers say the race is now safely on the calendar until 2019'. If it does happen, hopefully there will be more than this years 14 finishers. |

I believe I heard that Tucker has 'sold' the event to Dunlop, so maybe that's why it's now more certain etc. With a good field, it's a cracking event. This year was more like a 24 hour track day

I don't believe that they did a deal as the noise limit was a deal breaker. They would have turned it into the event it always should have been, but if you are limited on noise you can restrict so many big GT cars.

I wonder if you could do something innovative and run it as 2 x 12 hour races, 0900 until 2100 each day, with Parc Ferme in between. Result based on the aggregate times. Not ideal but an easier sell to the local population?

This is something that Creventic have some experience of - the Zandvoort 12 Hours is run in two separate races on successive days.

For me however, the non-stop 24 hours is special, whereas a split events is more like a normal race weekend. Running non-stop, including in the dark, puts a different emphasis on driver capability. And the best time in the 24 hours is 4-6 in the morning, when the sun rises. I understand the limitations but (and this is purely my own opinion), I would prefer to run without the fastest cars but retain the 24hours rather than a larger field split over 2 days. Maybe the solution is not to hold this in Silverstone... |

I don't think there is anywhere else in the UK where you could hold it.
