Looking for period seat belts and fire extinguisher info
Hello
I'm restoring a Titan Mk5 Formula Ford and am trying my best to make it look like it did when it was new. For the moment the car will just be a display piece so I'm looking for any information and photos on what belts and extinguisher were in use in the late 60's and early 70's. Of course if anyone has a new old stock of either please let me know! Again, this will be for display. When I run the car I will of course use new belts and extinguisher! Many thanks! Ben |

I would imagine period seat belts would have been Britax type full harness (with an aicraft type buckle) but probably without crutch straps. Most extinguishers at club level were handheld items fixed to a simple bracket mounted close to the seat (between the legs in a single seater!). I don't recall plumbed in systems at that time.

OK, thanks! I was thinking that fire extinguishers may have just been hand held household items. I'll look out for something the right size on ebay.
If anyone has any period photos of either that would be great! |

Lots of cars used domestic dry powder extinguishers. Unfortunately, the vibrations in a racing car soon shook the powder down into a solid block. I used to have a Brabham BT21 with the Britax belts. As Morninggents says, they used an aircraft-type buckle for the lap straps. The single seater version (pretty rare) had slotted steel plates at the ends of the shoulder straps through which the tongue of the lap strap passed.
