Given that all the usual suspects either appear to be making alternate arrangements or ruling it out through budget constraints what’s the chance of these seats being filled from outside the touring car world . Speed works have worked with Sam smelts who had no BTCC experience and collard who wasn’t a known name other than his short stint with BMW . You would expect WSR to have feelers out elsewhere as well . Only PMR maybe waiting on others to find the money.

I must admit, I was expecting Dan Zelos to be in that seat. Unless there's going to be some kind of Team Dynamics entry alongside Excelr8, with Zelos & Thompson maybe?

Apparently there's a conflict of interest with the BTCC, due to his main sponsor being a tyre company.

I really don’t think so. It’s almost entirely down to money and those two don’t have it.

I think the difference is that Halfords are a retailer of general motoring related items, which happens to include tyres, whereas Zelos' sponsor do nothing but supply and fit tyres.

There is a difference there - Halfords was an existing, long term sponsor of a front running team when a new series title sponsor was brought in.

Where as Zelos' situation is the reverse. The series sponsor is existing and a driver is looking to bring in a competitor sponsor.

Really it would be a shame if a situation like that stopped a talented driver like Zelos competing

There only seems to be one in the running now, and I "think" that he will struggle to find the budget for a WSR drive.

They were able to reach a compromise and run Dunlop branding on the car, which can be purchased through the Halfords group, but is also part of the same company as Kwik Fit.

huh?
kwikfit are not the same group as halfords or dunlop
and dunlop is not the same group as halfords

dunlop is owned by goodyear

dunlop tyre was the spec btcc tyre at the time so they ran that branding
when the spec tyre changed to goodyear so did the branding on the halfords cars

I guess the big problem is his sponsor being a tyre company and not wanting to clash with the series tyre supplier, as a rival brand

Might be wrong, but was it not ‘WSR - Team BMW’ before (Google search says yes) and pretty sure their profile picture has been changed too, can’t remember if that referred to BMW previously.
