Hmm.

Well, if I was looking at M Schumacher and Carroll, for example, I would pick Schumacher. If I was looking at Fauzy and Carroll, I would picl Carroll (and that's either Fauzy!). It really depends on who else was available.

Well, I'm talking about for a GP2 team - so limit your choice to anyone who's at that stage of their career next year!

lol alright then.

Yes, unless I had someone like Piquet want a drive, and Piquet Sports (or whatever their name was!) weren't competing. I'd pick Green, Lewis Hamilton, Watts etc over him though, if they were on offer.

Michael Schumacher then - he's got all the F1 records now so isn't it about time he got himself into a new milieu? The t*sser.

There was a report - perhaps tongue in cheek? - that Nelson Angelo Piquet's team-mate would be Nelson Piquet.

I think that one was tongue in cheek and was blown out of proportion by Autosport.

He tested, but as far as I recall didn't race. Maybe one race at the most.

Alfonso de Orleans should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A bit of info from our side so as not to start any rumours. Racing Engineering will be running a two car team in GP2 with Borja Garcia as one of it's drivers. The team has so far Borja's ride fully funded and half of the other ride funded as well. Although we are currently working to have the other drive fully funded, no promises can be made as of yet to that effect. The sponsors will be with the team for the full three years. So there will be at least one fully funded seat available with the team during each of the three years. There is one word of caution I have to add, although we plan to be in GP2, there are a number of issues that need to be answered before we commit. The main ones being if it's an FIA championship, if the races take place on Sunday and if there is live TV. Once those are addressed and we are satisfied with the package, we will then officially commit. As for the second driver, we are in talks with some, but no decision has been made.

Stephen is excellent and I would love to have him race for us, only at the moment we don't have the full budget to run him. If we did, then he would be a very serious contender for the seat.

I hear Fortec aren't going to do GP2 any more.

Good news for British F3, eh, Gaz?!

Absolutely Mathias! All we need now is to hear Hitech are planning the same and then things will be beginning to look up in the world of Brit F3. I think Fortec could have a very strong line up next year (Conway, Rossiter)

I think this GP2 series is going to be huge but I do fear the impact it may have on F3.

Gaz - the existing F3000, Euro 3000 and Dallara Nissan teams will likely have priority over F3 teams.

I think you need to worry more about the new Renault V6 series damaging F3!

Yeh, they're all off to America aren't they?

My worries come from comments by team managers such as Jonathan Lewis who say F3 is dead and that GP2 will take over. However much I would like to disagree with him I fear he's right. This series will be run by top teams, infront of the GP managers, run by a major manufacturer and on GP circuits. The chances of the winner getting an F1 drive or test of some description I would say is very high. Why waste 450-600k on F3 when for slightly more you could race in this series?

V6 is merging with the old FOrmula Nissan to form Reanult World Series as the anchor of the Renault-stand-alone European weekends next year.

Indeed.

F3 has its own problems, but I don't see GP2 as being the killer of F3 - it's a clear step up from F3.

I think the new Renault Racing weekends are more a problem for F3.

I agree.

It may well be time just to scrap F3.

in germany most drivers do FBMW and then step up to F3, so i dont consider Renault to be a risk, at least here
