Motor Racing in the 70's
I took this photo at Oulton Park in September 1979. I think this is Warren Booth in the Shadow nearest.

Are you sure that's Oulton Park?

Looks like it to me, the old pedestrian bridge would be to the right of the photographer.

It looks similar but I don't remember race control looking like that and the Paddock looks very empty.
I found this from about 1975

Surely the photographer would know where he was when he took it though chaps?
The far distance does look like the wooded bit at the end of Clay Hill into and around Druids?
The only other places that bit looks like is either Croft or maybe Aintree?

That's definately Croft. Not sure if it was 1979.

I suspect it is late 1978 or 1979 and that the bright yellow Shadow is Phil Bennett's DN3. The red Chevron may be George McMillan's B35.

Or Bernard Hunter, Allen, he had B35-10 in '78. Not sure about the Argo behind though, I wonder if it could be the FSV JM4 of Bruce Venn (??). If so, it would make it '79, and you were right, the B35 would be McMillan. Assuming its Croft, it maybe a combined Libre/FSV race as a guess. Intriguing pic indeed!

Croft - I'm not going mad after all
I agree with Bruce Venn's Super Vee Argo.

I didn't think it could have been Warren Booth, as the driver shown could see over the steering wheel!
(Apologies to Warren, but it was a standing joke with my mates when we were spectating when he raced, that it was either Warren Booth, Jimmy Clitheroe, or a 12 year old boy driving the car as he was somewhat vertically challenged!)

A few more photos. Atlantics at Brands 1973.
Peter Wardle leads, John Nicholson, Geoff Friswell with Stan Matthews and David Purley further back.
Special Saloons at the same meeting.

I thought it was Oulton where the bridge used to be. More likely it could be Aintree than Croft. I used to watch after the Esses at Croft or later on the Chicane.
I've pics from Oulton on the rest of the film.
Andy.
