Is it nailed on that Sorensen continues at MP?

Really hope so, he did a fine job at Silverstone. Just goes to show what a basically talented driver can do given the opportunity in GP2 (particularly after he's having such a bad season in FR3.5 again).

Nasr needs to max out and Palmer start to non score a bit I think.

Wonder if Evans and Marciello can continue their pace from the last 2 rounds?

that confirmed as Sato is busy elsewhere and that means Dillmann gets to race in GP2 taking the car that Rossi raced this year

Qualifying done. The top 5 were separated by just less than 4 tenths of a second ahead of tomorrow's race (with P2-9 separated by exactly 3 tenths!), which will be the 200th in GP2's history.

1 - Jolyon Palmer - 1:23:383
2 - Stoffel Vandoorne - 1:23:665
3 - Stefan Coletti - 1:23:722
4 - Tom Dillmann - 1:23:776
5 - Felipe Nasr - 1:23:781
6 - Arthur Pic - 1:23:859
7 - Johnny Cecotto Jr - 1:23:860
8 - Raffaele Marciello - 1:23:918
9 - Alexander Rossi - 1:23:965
10 - Simon Trummer - 1:23:983

Evans 15th (behind Abt), Leal 17th, Sorensen 25th but Palmer had the pace today.

Don't think he knows the track as well as Silverstone?

For me it just shows how random the form can be...

Look at Dillman, straight in with no recent mileage and bang!

Then Evans a form man that far back?

I don't honestly think that form in GP2 is random. They only have 45 minutes for practice; that short a time will mean that some teams and drivers will get setup right and some won't. That's probably what's happened to Sorensen and MP, as De Jong joins him on the back row.

The other factor is the scope of blocking in qualifying. I would like to see them do a split qualifying session like they do in Monaco, with the top five in each group going through to a top 10 shootout. It would make it much fairer, and drivers like Marciello this weekend wouldn't be as screwed over

The split qualy would be a great addition, as you say it can get a bit jumbled at the moment.

Anothef observation re qualy, Rossi has shown some class as a person by getting on with it after the nonsense in the week.

Evans won a great 200th race in GP2 due by undercutting everyone and holding off Vandoorne, who looked like he had the race under control prior to the stops. The top 3 were in their own class.

1 - Mitch Evans (P1)
2 - Stoffel Vandoorne (+0.4s)
3 - Jolyon Palmer (+2.7s)
4 - Stefan Coletti (+20.1s)
5 - Felipe Nasr (+20.6s)
6 - Simon Trummer (+23.4s)
7 - Johnny Cecotto Jr (+30.5s)
8 - Nathanael Berthon (+33.1s)

So Berthon, in his first weekend as a Caterham junior, will be on R2 pole - where he was for his maiden win in Hungary last year.

Maybe a) Regalia backed out of a last minute deal b) YPF for whatever reason still sponsor Hilmer or c) Hilmer are pretending they have more sponsors than they actually do

Why are we still talking about Regalia?

Excellent race today. Mitch did a superb job to hold off Vandoorne and Palmer. And the Coletti Nasr duel was epic.

Great race Evans is becoming a very class act!

But goodness there was some poor driving by an awful lot of people!!

Gutted for Marciello who pulled the moves of the race early on.

Some of those guys really have very dodgy racecraft though it must be said.

Coletti won race 2 with a slick tyre gamble. Praying for rain for the F1...

...
1 - Coletti
2 - Nasr
3 - Vandoorne (what a weekend he's had!)
4 - Sorensen
5 - Lancaster
6 - Palmer
7 - Rossi
8 - Quaife-Hobbs

Good points haul from Lancaster in race 2.

I'm not sure that would have been the case if Regalia had been driving
