A Theoretical Question.

This is only theoretical and not a bated qestion. Ray bell knows the answer and I would apreciate it if he didn't answer it. We have two identical Monza tracks The one in Italy and one in Australia. Equal track and weather conditions and Michael driving his ferrari on both. When the lights go green on which track would he get to turn one first?

Well, not in F1.
And if this is not the trick of this question, sorry, I don't know.

Which one of the lights? Aren’t they all turning green one at a time then all five go off?

North Vs South

It must be the Coriolis Force. In the Northern Hemisphere the cars would go faster - in theory - running clockwise. Vice Versa in the Southern.

One imagines an Australian CART oval circuit would run clockwise were it ever to be built....

I have it on good authority that CART cars will only run counter clockwise on ovals. They should run all their races in the Southern Hemisphere.

Gina/Gwen/Art or whoever:

I'm still waiting to find out which F 1 car had air brakes. The thought police have closed the thread where you cast out the question.

i presume this is because of the myth that toilets flushes the other way down here?

Not so much the toilet flush but the bathtub water.. and it's no myth... but also nothing to do with running CART cars the other way... There is an ideal site for a 3.5 mile oval in Queensland...

May the The Coriolis Force be With You

The bathtub water is indeed the key, and the Coriolis Force is no myth. In the Southern Hemisphere, the bath water always swirls in a counterclockwise direction due to the Force, as every schoolchild knows. Therefore, goes my argument, CART cars which always race counterclockwise on ovals, should go faster in the Southern Hemisphere because they will be assisted by the force. Vice Versa in the Northern Hemisphere where it works against them.

Back to the air brake: Ray Bell, now that you have reminded me, I too remember the MB sportscar with the flap air brake in the back. But, didn't one of the F1 teams try it too? Will have to research that one and revert.

Is it the 5 red light that are going grren?

At what time would the "green" lights be turned on?

Would they be ignited by the FIA computers, like the "red" ones?

Thought police? Coriolis force at Monza?

Is Monza an oval now? If it is, what if they moved it to Texas? Would NASCAR drive on it and if they did, could Ward Burton be taught to say Variente Ascari?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but is not the run to turn 1 at Monza a straight. If so then surely the Coriolis Force has no effect on this question???

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
First of all, there are no green lights at the start of an F1 race,
Secondly, Michael Schumacher cannot be in two places simultaneously, and
thirdly, this sounds like the stuff from the southern end of a north bound bull.

I've been asked to post the answer...

"How about giving the jokers on ten tenths the answer. Monza Italy as the car in australia would get less traction as everything is upside down. Remember when I had the guys screwed up for a week on Atlas with the same question. It was fun running them around in circles.

Art"

Oh, I know... it's all rubbish, but old Art likes to see people exercising their minds. I'm sure the last time he pulled that stunt there was something to do with gravitational pull of the sun closer to equator reduced traction...
