Aussies Win Malaysian 12 hr. Endurance
It is nice to know that Alex Yoong gets publicity for a dnf and our aussie boys don't get a mention for winning class "B" and 14 th outright in a Proton Putra.
Andre Morgan 17 year old (Vic), Grant Johnson (W.A), Allan Letcher(W.A.) Qualifying 8th in their class and 53rd, outright. The boys were lapping within 10th's of each other and were awarded for their consistency by winning the class "B" outright in a marginally slower car then the competition. Grant Johnson and Andre Morgan former competitors in the Australian Super Touring and Allan Letcher a former Bathurst 12 hour competitor were a perfect combination in the race. Grant will be competing at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 in an Orrcon Racing no:2 car this year. Andre is still persuing a budget for the US Formula Renault series for 2004 with Team Autotecnica for whom he tested early in the year. for full results log onto;http://www.malaysiangp.com.my/motors...ts_Amended.pdf |

What a bloody good effort by the Aussies. the performance by young Andre Morgan is excellent to be lapping within 10ths of Grant Johnson who has loads more exprience is a really good effort. Lets hope he finds the budget to compete in the US Formula Renault series. Another Aussie wanting to make in motorsport overseas, everyone should get behind him and support him in his efforts.

No doubting the Aussies did very well, with Kosi Kalazides 5th outright as well, but you must Alex Yoong's DNF was a little more than the average fail to finish.
The event could do with a lot better media management, finding out anything about the event, competitors, race updates etc etc was impossible without calling people at the circuit. |

Andre wasn't lapping 10th's slower, what I meant they were all lapping within 10th's of each other, meaning that each lap we were in traffic regardless weather you were passing or you were being lapped, slow lap was 2.52 in heavy traffic and good lap was 2.48 and each of the drivers were doing these lap times at their stints you couldn't really say one was slower or quicker then the other, like the pole man in class "B" would lap at 2.46 and his team mates would lap between 2.51 and 2.55.
