a different "Mark Webber" thread
In Todays EDP (Norfolk local paper) it had an article about Mark Webber sponsoring Old Catton under 9's football team.
They were orignally sponsored by Jaguar but they wanted to return to their original Blue and Yellow kit, and jaguar will only sponsor Green. So using a father of one of the players contacts they asked Mark Webber who aggreed to buy the kit and some equiptment for the team, who in return have put his website adress on the kit! I'm, looking for a link to the story but cant find one. Just thought you'd like to know. |

That would be a Jaguar Italy sponsorship, independent of Jag HQ.

Stories of elite sportsman doing something like this for community & sporting groups are always great to hear, unfortunately they don't get the press coverage they deserve.

I think you'll find most of the genuine donations etc dont want to be publicised.
Sometimes they just want to help out on a specific thing, and dont want it to been seen as a PR stunt. Also, regretably, they are afraid of being hunted down and harrassed by other charities that think they can 'cash in'. |

Nice
Mark is abit of a sports fan apparently. He'd be seriously going at some other sport if he weren't a race driver |

A nice thing to do from Mark.
He seems like a really nice and charitable guy. I remember him saying that he was going to get a group of people together, and they would do an adventure thing in Tasmania (The other island under Australia) with kayaking, hiking, cycling, and other hard things. It is an event organised to make money for some charity, and i was impressed at his comment "If a highly paid F1 driver hasn't got the time to help out a charity, then something must be wrong." - Or to the extent of that. And well done for him. |
