Gil had a massive headache, having just returned from medical after crashing his car in qualifying (at Toronto). They had told us it was problematical if he came or not, and I think he'd have rather been lying down in a dark room with an ice pack - but bless the boy he was nice to all of us anyway.
Helio is a lot cuter in person than he looks in his pictures.

I probably should have stuck with you at the time Liz . Although I did meet Gil on Saturday. He was one of the few pilots that actually came out of his air conditioned trailer to meet the regular fans outside of the autograph sessions.

Did either of them comment on your Zonta hat?

No - Helio was giving me a hard time for the stupid remark I had made to him earlier and I just asked Gil if he was all right and he said except for the headache, yes. (It was much easier to talk to the PacWest guys. I have no idea why.)

If you want to get a comment or so from pilots though, wear a Senna cap. Virtually every pilot I have met when I've been wearing that one has commented on it.

Incidentally, the picture was taken by a very self-possessed lady who was behind me in line - she said "I do this for my daughter all the time," and she had the shot lined up and the picture taken well before anyone could tell me to move along!
