2008 Calendar

Hello all,

Just wondering when the 2008 V8 Supercar championship dates will be released?

I'm getting married in August/September next year and the unfortunate woman that's getting has said that we could go to Sandown and Bathurst if we timed it right.

I know it's early days but would I be right in thinking that this year's dates would be an indicator into next year.

Cheers

Bathurst is usually the weekend after the AFL Grand Final which is the last Saturday in September. So that would mean that Bathurst would be 4-7th October.

Sandown there is usually 2 weekends between the races so that would make Sandown 12-14th September

Of course that isn't set in concrete just extrapolating previous years.

Isn't Bathurst normally the weekend after Labour Day which would make the '08 dates October 10-13. A return to the Labour Day weekend would be great but it hasn't been there for a while.

The calander is normally released anywhere between QR and Sandown, like the others have said, Bathurst is the weekend after the long weekend.

You can back it in that there will be no consultation with the permanant tracks, just a axe held over their head and hand out for the big cheque. In fact, the tracks will probably be the last to know.

I think the AFL fixture was released on October 25 last year. I think This was later than normal by a couple of weeks as there were some teething problems with the new fixture software they were using. So maybe around Bathurst this year there can be confirmation of the calendar. They'd at least be able to confirm dates for the pre-April, post-Sandown rounds before then.

Hamilton is locked in for April. So either round 2 or 3.

I don't think the calendar will change very drastically next year. It'l be interesting to see where the Townsville street race in 2009 slots in. Its likely it will replace the Ipswich round held in July.

Interesting comment made by one T.S at Winton this year " Well next year we will do a similar thing"......

Was that a Freudian slip ?

Roll on a Winton V8 round in 2008, but hopefully not in late May.....
