I'm not sure if it's a 3rd manufacturer in the sense you probably understand it, but "just" a private team with Opel-Spiess power... Unless I'm wrong or it's actually 4th manufacturer to enter Euroseries!

Yeah! He got a well deserved 8th in his first ever qualifying in f3 euro then moved up 2 places in the race and finished 6th on debut! He has the RedBull Backing so he wont have money problems. Im sure he will go to SG formula as he races for them in formula renault and made his debut in f3 euro because of sg formula. Im sure he will get a drive in f3 euro next year!

We have a couple of good drivers. We have Daniel Ricciardo, who is leading the formula renault Eurocup and WEC championships hes also A1GP Australia rookie driver. Sam Abay who is racing BF3 also John Martin who does BF3 and A1GP for Team Australia. We have Nathan Antunes who tested GP2 last year and is now A1GP rookie driver for Team Australia. Ashley Walsh who is doing Formula Renault WEC and some of the Eurocup races. But Daniel Ricciardo is out best and our biggest hopeful of a F1 drive in the future. Hes sponsored by RedBull too.
www.driverdb.com is a good site to find out about driver database which is driver profiles ect. |

There is also Josh Scott (another Aussie) who just finished his first season of Formula Renault UK, which is very competitive. He finished 2nd in his debut round at Brands Hatch to briefly hold second overall in the standings, and picked up another 2nd place at Thruxton. He had a few missed opportunites, especially in the last 4 races, but i'd say watch out for him next year.

Oliver Oakes will be racing for Carlin, Frédéric Vervisch for RC Motorsport this weekend in Hockenheim. Both will make their debut in F3 Euroseries.

Great to see Vervisch in Euroseries, but it's a pity he'll do his début in a uncompetitive team.

Yeah, 27th and still Epsilon can't fix their car. VW and Mortara back on form, I wonder what was wrong before? He seems to fly now, 7 tenths faster than the next VW engined car.

maybe the pressure is off? his performances were similarly patchy at macau last year, when he was a definite contender for a win he went off the boil and threw it at the wall.

Big crash fest for the 2nd race... 10 laps and half points awarded, which helped a lot Mortara, if they have finished in that order - Bianchi would have taken 2nd in standings thanks to feature race win.
Very competitive season, but none of the drivers was anywhere near consistent. Mortara started with 40 points in 4 races and gained 9.5 points in the remaining 6. Hulkenberg in his 3rd season, with the best car, had 7 poles and made extremely stupid mistakes. Also he collected just 9 pts from Sunday races. Maki lost his speed like Mortara by mid-season, but next season with Bianchi they should be the favorites. Van der Zende without much noise got to 4th with Prema, probably the most consistent driver. |

I doubt Maki will return next year, he's already in GP2. Or is he supposed to remain for another season? Bianchi will be the overwhelming favourtie in 2009. As for Hulkenberg, his car let him down badly on a couple of occasions. But 7 feature race wins from 10 is outstanding. 9 points in the sprint races isn't too bad, because he started most of them from 8th on the grid. Mortara's season was definately one of two halves, but well done to him and VW.

I have to admit I haven't followed Euroseries that much this year, but one thing really surprised me:
The rookie classification was won by...no, not Mika Mäki, and not Jules Bianchi... by Erik Janis! What can we expect from him next year? He's almost nowhere in the main standings but scored consistently in the rookie championship. Next year similar to van der Zande this year? |

Yeah, the rookies point system is weird. Janis is like 15th or 20th, he never got on the podium, once was on reverse grid pole and that was his highlight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOZDaOuFRAQ This is the crash of James Jakes from today's race, very very nasty! |
